Another Side (Different Shades Book 1)
Basically, it's saying that Ana and Christian's relationship exists in a gray area. It's not defined by societal rules or the standards of typical relationships. It falls somewhere in the middle of wrong and right, but not dead center. It's on a sliding scale that can lean toward either end of the spectrum depending on the situation. As for the number 50, there are a lot of speculations as to why the author chose that number.
Some have said that 50 is a lucky number.
Googling the meaning of the number will return a lot of results. Some sources say it represents masculinity or passion. Other say that, according to the Bible, it represents salvation. But most interestingly, data has found that the human eye can only see 32 shades of gray. So perhaps by choosing a number higher than that, the author is telling readers that you can't see all of the facets of Grey's character, and therefore you cannot judge him if you don't have the full picture.
It reinforces that theme of "shades of gray" confusion. I might be reading too much into it. Fifty Shades, so it could just be that the author liked the number. But whatever the title's true meaning, the content of the book definitely brings up some interesting conversation on those lines that define sex and relationships and the confusion that can come from falling in a gray area.
For a title to spark a dialogue is pretty impressive.

A Darker Shade of Magic
I wrote it, so I think it's perfect. Hope my readers enjoy it. Jul 17, Sometime rated it it was ok Shelves: kindle , western. Some Spoilers This book was just OK. It started out good and had an interesting premise. But the characters just didn't seem to act true to themselves. Grayson is a big cheating pig who sleeps with married women and everyone in this conservative town just looks the other way and says awww Grayson! And our sweet little school teacher who would have to behave above reproach becomes a floozy who has no problem whatsoever with intimacy despite the fact that she was raped as a teen.
Why women love Fifty Shades of Grey
Thin Some Spoilers Things just didn't make sense. And Grayson's unwillingness to commit and his waffling just made me mad at him. I think Nora should've dumped him and gone for Bronson. Deleted from my kindle Oct 15, Julia rated it really liked it. Sweet I enjoyed the sweet characters. I love that she introduces you to other characters and their soon to be mates. I'll definitely be buying her other books. Feb 01, Amanda rated it it was amazing Shelves: would-read-more-from. I normally avoid Westerns- mostly because they are 'clean inspirational romances' aka no smut.
This had a nice touch of smut, and engaging plot. Sep 28, Vicki rated it really liked it Shelves: ebook-historical-romance. Good characters Really enjoyed this book. The characters were easy to like and understand. I look forward to reading more from this author and this series.
'Fifty Shades Freed' Review: An Awful Trilogy Comes to an End - The Atlantic
Let me start by saying I liked the plot. Usually Romance stories dont come with a great plot but this one did. I loved the return of Hank and Elizabeth as well as was glad to see introduction of new characters too. There were parts of the story that I wish were handled differently though. I felt Nora's ordeal and her pain kind of neglected at times.
In all honestly, at times I wanted to tell Grayson to just suck it up and be a man. The woman has also been though a lot but she's trying instead of sulking all the time. I also felt Mitch's dedication towards his sister and his guilt was neglected as well, when he suffered just as much after the events. I hope I would see Mitch's own story would do him more justice hopefully. She was honest, practical and strong.
Also after a long time, I saw supporting characters of the story to be real good ones. For ex, I liked Mitch and Ashley for sure. Ashley more because of the fact that even though he didn't say much his character was very precise in making comments when it meant something. Elizabeth was way more commanding than in last book where she was heroine, She is the mother all of them deserved. He was a rake but not someone who hurt others intentionally. His feeling sorry for Bronson kind of showed his soft side too.
It was an entertaining read. Historical Western romance with a widower finding love after being found in a 'compromising' position with the small town school teacher. I liked this story, although it does deal with death, murder and rape so not a 'fluff' romance story. Grayson Cole is grieving for the future that was stolen from him when his newly wed wife dies tragically only two weeks after their marriage.
Time jump five years and we meet the teacher, Nora Banks who is avoiding marriage because of her childhood rape. Nora and Historical Western romance with a widower finding love after being found in a 'compromising' position with the small town school teacher. Nora and Grayson get forced into an engagement which gets broken off and then reinstated so many times that I lost count about half way through the book. To complicate things, Bronson Grayson's identical twin brother has a crush on Nora as well. There are a lot of deaths accidental, medical and murder in this story, Grayson and Nora should have lots of children immediately so they can repopulate the small town!
Aug 15, Melinda rated it it was amazing Shelves: cmc-reading-challenge This book is the story of Nora and Grayson. We see glimpses of life for the other Cole brothers as well as Nora's brother Mitch. Setting up for future books in the series.

I admit I have already fallen for the Cole brothers and look forward to their stories. Nora and her brother Mitch share a dark secret that has kept both from allowing themselves to find love. Each is fighting their own internal battles, but when caught in the barn, rumors start flying about this play boy and sweet Nora. Her family insist on an engagement. Thus starts their story. Two of the most egregious noteto author: that means "shockingly bad" : she misused the word "quipped," which means "said humorously," not "said.
And ranchland is not "lush," especially in the Intermountain West, where this is supposedly set. If the land were lush, which means "growing luxuriently," it would be used for farming, which brings in a far higher income per acre than arid Montana ranchland. I am glad for the author's sake that she has found her market. It does not include me. I prefer authors who respect their craft and their readers. Jun 01, Mary rated it it was amazing. Sweet read I enjoyed this story.
I did find it a little irritating that Grayson was supposed to be a strong, determined man, but was so set against getting married again. I admired Nora' s strength and determination to be an independent woman.
However for her to have dealt with the problem from het past on her own without talking to anyone, did seem far fetched. At first it was hard for me to remember Ashley was a man, as I had only heard that name for a woman. I look forward to Grayson's brother Sweet read I enjoyed this story.
I look forward to Grayson's brothers finding a woman worthy of them. I wonder though May 30, Will Decker rated it liked it. Not only did I find the editing lacking, but also the passion factor. The characters spoke as if they were in the modern era of time while the story is supposedly set in the mid 's. The plot was predictable and a bit boring.
If there was anything exciting in this story, it would have to be the sparks that flew between Ashley and Grace, which would make a great intro into another story, maybe one with more passion and suspense. All in all, a light western romance that could use some color fi Not only did I find the editing lacking, but also the passion factor.

This was an easy to read, enjoyable story. While I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters, sometimes I lost sight of the hero and heroine. While set as a western it sometimes almost felt like more of a contemporary romance.
There were a few editorial issues and some typos but nothing that couldn't be overlooked and continue reading. It had a decent plot and a bit of humor as well. Overall, I found it to be enjoyable enough to read more by this author. Jul 08, Tracy Sylvester rated it it was amazing. Grayson Cole suffers the loss of his new wife and finds that it changes him over the passing years. Nora Banks has been smitten with Grayson Cole for quite some time.
However, instead of Grayson calling upon her she finds his brother calling upon her and wanting to court her.
This book has incredible characters, romance, tragedy, healing, second chances at love and some intrigue too. I look forward to reading more in this series. Aug 18, Penny Friday-Baker rated it liked it. A Different Shade of Blue Will be fun to follow the Cole brothers on their journeys. Choppy in some areas. Felt a little rushed at the end.
Many typographical mistakes.
